As we near the end of 2022, it is a good thing to reflect back on the happenings of the year. The Town of Strasbourg has been busy with numerous activities in 2022 including a rodeo, regular barrel racing, exercise classes, seniors’ days, pancake breakfasts, car shows, theatre productions, and golf tournaments to name just a few. Due to weather conditions, the RCMP musical ride had to be cancelled but we are excited to announce that it will be returning in the summer of 2023.
We are constantly looking at improving our infrastructure. We are excited to announce that fibre optic cable will soon be installed and this will result in new and improved Internet speeds for our residents. Streets received a facelift with either patching or complete new pavement. A new and safer access approach was installed at our golf course.
However, the biggest project this year was the revitalization of our Lions Park. The park will be finalized in the spring of 2023, and it will be a more age-friendly park with paved walking paths, a new splash park, seniors exercise equipment, a picnic shelter, on-site washrooms, raised garden beds, and a beautiful water feature/memorial garden. We invite everyone to come and visit and enjoy this new facility later in the spring, as well as the many different shopping opportunities the businesses in our town have to offer. We would love to have you come to experience our great town together with us.
The month of December is probably best known for the celebration of Christmas. This is a wonderful time of year where we can celebrate with family and friends with great food, gifts, and fun times. This Christmas, as we gather, I would encourage all of us to take time to remember the real reason we are gathering. The greatest gift ever given was in the birth of our Saviour that first Christmas to give us peace, joy, hope, and love for everything that we experience in life. May your Christmas be a time of celebration and remembrance, as we gather together throughout the season.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone from the Town of Strasbourg Council and Administration.
Kelvin Schapansky, Mayor
