This causes me to wonder, Do you people live in the same world I do? Do you want something for nothing? Seriously? Did you think that all the billions paid out in CERB payments were all free during the epidemic?
Well, in the current world, we live in, with rising interest rates, runaway inflation, and soaring food prices, one can assume the chickens have finally come home to roost, have they not?
The government just does not print out more money by adding another shift to the Canadian mint, all this money so freely distributed to many people who took it and did not need it has to be paid back at some point - by taxpayers, and here we are now, doing just that.
I read recently that Justin Trudeau was giving out free financial advice at a town hall meeting. Get renovations done on your home, and place the renos on your credit card; that is how you stimulate the economy. Well, I just got my statement the other day after a short holiday with my wife. Interest rate due at the first of the month clocks in at about 2 points lower than loan shark rates at 19.90%. I have heard some cards go as high as 25.99%, five points over loan shark rates. Justin must have got this good advice from his finance minister, who has a degree in journalism.
And you wonder just why this country is in the mess we are in.
