God’s great, green earth! How often do we think that way? We have a short, temporary sojourn here, and then we pass from this life to the eternal life our Creator has prepared for us. We need to take a note from the tree that “lifts her leafy arms to pray.” (Joyce Kilmer – TREES)
I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast.
A tree that looks to God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray.
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair.
Upon whose bosom snow has lain,
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Yes indeed! Only God can make a tree!
Just think of all the seeds that have been planted this spring. In this area of the world, most seeds are planted for food. Think of that the next time you scoop out of your soup or stew that piece of onion, carrot, or potato! Only God can grow an onion, carrot or potato. We can plant the seed, but only God can grow the fruit. And the wonder of it all is the seed has to be planted and die before it can grow to its potential and show forth its glory and beauty and worth!
We are the same!
Jesus was with His disciples, explaining to them why He had to die.
John 12:23 - “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” Jesus continues talking to His disciples, explaining He had to die to pay for our sins. His death was the seed for our salvation. Christ resurrected proves He has eternal life - Eternal life He gives to all who believe in Him! “With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping a promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance,” (2Peter 3:8 &13) “But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.”
Rev.21:4 – He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.”
Our Creator is our Gardener! Amen!
