A year full of possibilities! A year full of opportunities! We have 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days; 8,760 hours; 525,600 minutes and 31,536,000 seconds. What in the world will you do with all this time?
Many of us are determined to do things differently. We have very good intentions to work hard at change.
I wonder what we’ll do this new year. Will we be as busy? Will we make any better use of our time? In 365 days, when the 2022 year is over: Will we be looking back at it with joy? Will we be looking back at it with regret? Will we be looking at the future with anticipation? Will we be looking at the future with dread? Will we have done anything differently? Will we have gotten to know GOD!
Ephesians 5:15-17, says “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Our message today is “A New Year, A New Beginning, and A Renewed Resolution” AMEN.
Now, we may not want to admit it, but our time on this earth is limited. We should make the most of every opportunity, develop a positive outlook toward life, and understand what the Lord’s will is.
With all our well-thought-out resolutions on what we intend to do, we must implement a plan. To do this, we have to “Strain toward what is ahead” and concentrate on a solid plan that will help to make our resolutions more of a reality. God has to be at the top of that plan! God is like a GPS; when I don’t turn when she/he wants me to, she gently reminds me I’m going the wrong way…..
There’s something refreshing about beginning a new year. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and refocus our goals for the upcoming year. I find it helpful to get away for an hour or two and spend some time in prayer, asking the Lord to guide me as I consider the time he’s given. God’s word encourages us to reflect on our lives regularly, so this year, let us leave last year in last year and take this opportunity in the New Year to petition God for His help and power and then do your part to make the changes you know need to be made.
I’ll end with this; a famous minister said, “When a new year begins, we should think of serving God more and better than we did the year before.”
So what do I need to do for a better 2022?
May I humbly suggest no more resolutions but proclamations? I will put God first in my life.
Happy New Beginning.
